Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima's Approval Rating

Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima’s approval rating seems to indicate that he is pretty popular right now. Nintendo recently held their 77th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders and during this event they had elections for the Board of Directors. Mr. Kimishima was one person elected to the Board and he led the way with an approval rating of 97.70%, an increase of over 10% from last year. Next up was Shinya Takahashi, Shuntaro Furukawa, & Ko Shiota, all with a rating of 97.65%. Then we had Shigeru Miyamoto closely behind at 97.59%.

It’s interesting that Mr. Miyamoto is seemingly ranked last out of this group with him being one of the most famous and highly thought of individuals in the gaming industry. Maybe this could be read as a sign of Nintendo embracing “new blood” in their company? We’ve seen some of this take shape over the past year or two with new releases like Splatoon, ARMS, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which throws away most of the traditional Zelda conventions.

Kimishima-san has had big shoes to fill with the sad passing of former President Satoru Iwata last year. But it seems like Mr. Kimishima is doing a great job as far as shareholders are concerned. Nintendo has finally entered the mobile market after being questioned on this subject for years by investors and the Switch has thus far been a huge success after the disappointment that the Wii U was. Can Nintendo keep the ball rolling? We’ll have to wait and see to find out.
