Bayonetta For Nintendo Switch Rumor

Bayonetta For Nintendo Switch

It appears that PlatinumGames may have teased Bayonetta for Nintendo Switch. In a recent tweet the developers behind the cult favorite action series said:

https://twitter.com/platinumgames_j/status/881710210166824960

Bing translated this as:

“@はじめてのツイート @ベヨ好きならフォローしてもいいよ Established the official account for Platinum games! #platinumgames ← The information in English from #PG_y_hashimoto veyo sister drew 💋🔫🔫🔫🔫 #Bayonetta #ベヨネッタ”

Google meanwhile had this translation:

“# First time tweet # If you like Bayo you can follow it Platinum Games We have set up an official account for domestic! From @ platinumgames ← we will send out information in English @ BeGe sister who PG_y_hashimoto painted # Bayonetta # Bayonetta”

One reason why people think they might be teasing Bayonetta for Nintendo Switch is because of the artwork that is part of the tweet. The art uses shades of blue & red that are closely associated with Nintendo Switch. Though Kotaku UK’s Matt Wales cautions that these colors have been associated with Bayonetta in general before so it might not be Switch related. Adding fuel to the rumor is that Platinum has been liking tweets that mention Switch.

Of course this could all be nothing but a simple joke/trolling job by Platinum as they’ve been known to do such things in the past. Our take? We think it’s quite possible that Nintendo & Platinum could port Bayonetta 1 & 2 to Switch. Nintendo hasn’t been shy about porting Wii U games to Switch so far, so why not? We’ve already gotten Breath of the Wild & Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as ports of Wii U games, though one could argue BOTW as more of a Switch to Wii U port than the other way around. There’s also the recently announced Pokkén Tournament DX.

Who knows, maybe Platinum is planning a Bayonetta 3? That’d certainly be interesting and would likely to serve to drum up additional interest in a system which is already difficult to find and in high demand. We’ll have to wait and see what comes of this, if anything.
