London & Los Angeles are getting new teams in The Overwatch League. Blizzard made the announcement in a press release sent out today. London’s team will be owned by Cloud9’s Jack Etienne while the new Los Angeles team will be owned by Stan and Josh Kroenke (Stan Kroenke also owns teams in the NBA, NHL, MLS, National Lacrosse League, & the NFL). With these new additions, the league now consists of nine teams.

Competition in The Overwatch League is set to begin sometime later this year. Teams can sign players from August 1st through October 30th. Players on each team will receive a minimum salary of $50,000 with bonuses if their team wins in the playoffs and from other league events.

Overwatch D.Va Statue Photos

At this year’s Anime Expo, Blizzard brought along a high end Overwatch D.Va statue. The newest statue includes D.Va herself as well as her mech. You can pre-order your D.Va statue through the Blizzard store, but you’d be better be ready to pay a premium for this one. The price? $450. Yeah, these things are expensive, but hey at least they look nice right?

Hearthstone’s Next Expansion Announced

Hearthstone’s next expansion has been announced by Blizzard. You may recall earlier this year that Blizzard filed an interesting trademark for Return of the Lich King. At the time it wasn’t clear whether this was intended to be for World of Warcraft or for Hearthstone. Well that question has now seemingly been answered. Blizzard has announced the next expansion for Hearthstone is Knights of the Frozen Throne.

Knights of the Frozen Throne is scheduled to be released in August and after this initial reveal, they will share more new cards starting July 24th. In total, the expansion will add 135 new cards. There will be Death Knight versions of the game’s original heroes. You will now be able to add Heroes to your deck using a new card type. When you change your Hero, your Hero Power will also change.

Another addition to Hearthstone is a new gameplay mechanic called Lifesteal. As the name would imply, this basically saps life from your opponent and gives it to you (you are healed when you deal damage with Lifesteal). As for the titular element of this expansion, the adventure takes place in Arthas’ stronghold, Icecrown Citadel. Hearthstone’s ICC will have 3 wings and a final battle with The Lich King. Completing a wing earns you a card pack. If you finish the prologue for the adventure, you’ll get a Legendary Hero Card.

If you pre-order, you’ll get a new card back in the form of the mythical sword Frostmourne. Here’s the new cards that have been revealed so far for Knights of the Frozen Throne.

Next WoW Expansion Rumor

In what may turn out to be a major spoiler, there’s a new WoW Expansion rumor that hit the web yesterday. Blizzard has been adding 7.3 content to World of Warcraft’s Public Test Realm (PTR) and it looks like they may have accidentally revealed the theme/location of the game’s next expansion. If you don’t want to have it possibly spoiled for you, then don’t click below.

Of course it’s always possible that this could be content for 7.3 in some way, a possible 7.4 patch, or perhaps even a red herring. We’ll have to wait and see to find out. It’s been somewhat rumored that Blizzard may reveal the next expansion at Blizzcon this Fall, so maybe we’ll find out then?

New Overwatch Hero Added To PTR

New Overwatch Hero

A new Overwatch hero has been added to the PTR for the game. Dooomfist is his name and he becomes the 25th playable character in Blizzard’s team-based shooter. Doomfist is an Offensive hero and his abilities include Hand Cannon, Seismic Slam, Rising Uppercut, Rocket Punch, The Best Defense & Meteor Strike. Here’s a partial biography for Doomfirst from the official Overwatch website:

Real Name: Akande Ogundimu, Age: 45
Occupation: Mercenary
Base of Operations: Oyo, Nigeria
Affiliation: Talon

“Doomfist’s cybernetics make him a highly-mobile, powerful frontline fighter. In addition to dealing ranged damage with his Hand Cannon, Doomfist can slam the ground, knock enemies into the air and off balance, or charge into the fray with his Rocket Punch. When facing a tightly packed group, Doomfist leaps out of view, then crashes down to earth with a spectacular Meteor Strike.”

Here’s a couple videos looking at Doomfist. First up is his Origin Story and then an introduction from Game Director Jeff Kaplan.
